Mimetite



Mimetite, Pb5(AsO4)3Cl (Lead Chloroarsenate), is analogous to Pyromorphite with the arsenate (AsO4) 3-, replacing the phosphate anion (PO4) 3-. Although most properties are almost the same because of this, colour can usually be used to distingusih between the two, Mimetite being yellow and Pyromorphite being green.

Description: A nugget of white crystalline Quartz liberally covered by well formed prismatic and tabular crystals. The colour is dark yellow, with a high degree of luster, making the crystals very sparkly in good light.
