Mineral Species: Fluorite and Tetrahedrite
Chemical Formula: CaF2
Chemical Name: Calcium Fluoride
Mineral Class: Halide
Mineral Notes: Fluorite is found in a wide range of geologic environments, ranging from inclusions in granite to replacement deposits in limestones. It is one of the most commonly collected minerals because of the beauty of its specimens.
Description: Well-formed cubic crystals of white Fluorite on a matrix of crystalline Tetrahedrite. The two largest Fluorite crystals are transparent. Interestingly one is perfectly cubic whilst the other is almost hexagonal. The Tetrahedrite is highly metallic and its characteristic tetrahedral form is easily seen.
Location: Huallapon Mine, Peru.
