Stilbite

Stilbite, (Na2,Ca,K2)Al2Si7O18.7H2O (Hydrated Sodium Calcium Potassium Aluminium Silicate), is a common zeolite mineral whose crystals tend to clump together into aggregates resembling wheat sheafs. Whether in this form or not, Stilbite is a aesthetic specimen with its clean pearly luster and often colourful pink and rosy tints.

Desciption: A pale matrix upon which sit four large crystal aggregates formed into the typical wheat-sheaf habit. The colour of these ranges from cream at the tip of the sheaf to dark orange at the base. Many individual columnar crystals can be seen within each aggregate. The luster is very bright meaning that this mineral will display extremely well under a good light source.

Location: Nassik Quarry, Poona, India.
