Vanadinite

Vanadinite, Pb5(VO4)3Cl (Lead Chlorovanadate), is a secondary mineral formed by alteration of lead ore by water. The mineral is light sensitive and so specimens should be kept in darkness. The bright orange colouration gradually darkens and dulls to shades of brown.

Description: Eight large, extremely well-formed crystals of red vandinite. All have good crystal form and most show hexagonal cross section and flat terminations. They are offered as a set because they were all found together outgrowing from the walls of a rock cavity. Such large size and excellent form are very rarely found.

Location: Mibladen, Morocco.
