Fluorite, CaF2 (Calcium Fluoride), is found in a wide range of geologic environments, ranging from inclusions in granite to replacement deposits in limestones. It is one of the most commonly collected minerals because of the beauty of its specimens.
Description: A thick deposit of white semi-transparent Fluorite crystals. Both cubic and octahedral crystals can be seen, of which one particulalry large octahedron sits at the centre of the formation. The surface has a very unusual soapy lustre. Many of the crystals show a high degree twinning, which is unusual for this location..
Location: Dalnegorsk, East Siberia, Russia.
