Quartz var. Pink

Quartz, SiO2 (Silicon Dioxide), is one of the most commonly used materials by people, having uses in glass manufacture, electronic equipment, jewelry, decoration and in ancient days for producing sparks to start fires.

Description: Dozens of large, well-formed Quartz crystals of various sizes sit upon a matrix of white limestone. Most of the quartz crystals are well-formed and terminated. The pink colour is concentrated in the points of the crystals, whereas the body becomes progressively white towards the base. The mineral has a very bright luster. Some of the crystals are covered by a powdery deposit of limestone which could be removed if required. However in our opinion the earthy appearance is visually attractive.

Location: Izerskie Garby, Sudety, Poland.
