Hematite Fe2O3 (Ferric Oxide), is the principal ore of iron. It was thought by the ancient Greeks to come from the blood of the injured on a battlefield.
Description: This Hematite specimen is a variety of the mineral known as "kidney ore" showing the chracteristic rounded botryoidal habit. Consisting of two lobes the outer surface is well rounded, smooth and undulating. The luster is a metallic sheen interspersed with brown and red highlights. A very aesthetic effect.
