Mineral Species: Stilbite
Chemical Formula: (Na2,Ca,K2)Al2Si7O18.7H2O
Chemical Name: Hydrated Sodium Calcium Potassium Aluminium Silicate
Mineral Class: Zeolite
Mineral Notes: Stilbite is a common zeolite silicate whose crystals tend to clump together into formations resembling wheat sheafs. Whether in this form or not, Stilbite is a very aesthetic species with its clean pearly luster and colourful pink and rosy tints.
Description: The bulk of this specimen consists of a matrix of transparent, cubic Apophyllite. Many crystals show almost perfect form, and some show interesting variations where the corners are truncated. Amongst these sit a number of peach-coloured Stilbite crystals. These are tabular and have pyramidal terminations. The contrast between the clear Apophyllite and coloured Stilbite gives rise to a very attractive specimen.
Location: Jalgaon, India.
