Mineral Notes: Pyrite is the most abundant and widely distributed Sulfide. It is frequently found with many other metal ores. It is common in coal, slate and other metamorphic rocks. Frequently confused with Gold it is popularly known as "fool`s gold". However it is much harder and very brittle.
Description: A superb twinned crystal of Pyrite. Most faces show chracteristic parallel surface striations. There are numerous small cubic crystals scattered over the surface of the large crystal. The mineral has a very strong metallic luster and a striking golden-brown colour. There is no tarnish to spoil the aesthetics of this specimen.
