Mineral Notes: Quartz is one of the most commonly used materials by people, having uses in glass manufacture, electronic equipment, jewelry, decoration and in ancient days for producing sparks to start fires. 

Description: A specimen with a very unusual crystalisation of Quartz. The largest crystal is severely distorted taking the shape of an octahedron. The colour also, is rather interesting, having a wine-red hue rather than the more common violet.
