Mineral Species: Copper (native)
Chemical Formula: Cu
Chemical Name: Copper
Mineral Class: Native Element
Mineral Notes: Copper is one of the most important industrial metals and has been so since the bronze age. One of the main reasons for its early use is the fact that it is easily found in nature in its native, or unreacted, form. It is also relatively soft, so can be easily shaped into tools and decorations.
Description: A rounded nugget of copper showing numerous rhombohedral crystal outlines. This makes the specimen an almost certain pseudoform after Calcite. A wonderful little mineral curiosity.
Location: Geevor Mine, St. Just, Cornwall, England.
