Mineral Notes: Jasper is a variety of microcrystalline Quartz. It is a widely ocurring rock-building material found in many shapes and forms. It is one of the most commonly used materials, having uses in glass manufacture, jewellery, decoration and, in prehistoric times, for producing sparks to start fires.
Description: A remarkable form of Jasper having colour, lustre and texture resembling milk chocolate. This specimen also contains small nodules of white, opalescent Chalcedony. Some areas show hemispherical bands which represent the characteristic choncoidal fracture of this mineral form. A very attractive display specimen.
