It was named after Francois Sulpice Beudant (1787–1850) a French mineralogist working at the University of Paris. The mineral has many associations especially other mixed lead iron arsenates including Carminite, Gartrellite and Gabrielsonite.
Description: A brown matrix on which are several small clusters of yellow Beudantite. The mineral appears to be fairly amorphous but when magnified some small pseudo-cubic can be seen. The mineral has a resinous luster with some surface frosting.
