Mineral Notes: Vanadinite is a secondary mineral formed by alteration of lead ore by water in the presence of vanadium. The mineral is light sensitive and so specimens should be kept in darkness. The bright orange colouration gradually darkens and dulls to shades of brown.
Description: A pink matrix upon which sit hundreds of small Vanadinite crystals. All are very well formed, having the characteristic hexagonal tabular form. The largest have a degree of transparency making them very gemmy. The colour is a dark orange-red with a very bright glassy luster.
