Mineral Notes: Barium is easily identified by its heavy weight. Most similar minerals are much lighter. It tends to form well defined flattened crystals. Occasionally it forms large rounded mounds from precipitation of hot, barium-rich springs.
Description: A large semi-spherical nodule of cocks-comb Barite. The individual crystal blades are easily seen and there is no damage to the terminations. The mineral is highly crystalline and has a bright vitrous luster. A great display specimen from a rare location.
Location: Judkins Quarry, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England.
