Mineral Notes: Labradorite is an unusual mineral. Its displays an irridescent play of colours, caused by internal fractures in the mineral that reflect light back and forth, dispersing it into different colours. This effect, known as labradorescence, gives Labradorite its appeal and popularity. Specimens on sale are usually polished or sliced to fully bring out this phenomenon.
Description: A bottle-green specimen of labradorite which has been polished on one side. The light dispersal effect is strong, showing attractive gold and deep-blue play of light in the interior of the stone.
