Mineral Notes: Quartz is a widely found rock-building material found in many shapes and forms. It is one of the most commonly used materials by people, having uses in glass manufacture, electronic equipment, jewelry, decoration and in ancient days for producing sparks to start fires. Capped Quartz is a variety with seperable portions caused by thin films of clay seperating different growth phases in the crystals.

Description: A great example of this rare phenomenom with a 3cm Quartz crystal cap that sits on and lifts off a smaller crystal underneath. .
