Mineral Notes: Chlorargyrite is also sometimes called Cerargyrite. It forms isolated but rich deposits of silver ore. It the western US many ghost towns were built to exploit profitable Chlorargyrite deposits. The mineral forms on top of silver ore veins that have been subjected to weathering. The name comes from the composition of chlorine and argentum(silver).
Description: Lustrous yellow rosettes of yellow Chlorargyrite on brown gossan matrix. These are very attractive under magnification. The chlorargyrite is scattered all over the specimen.
