Mineral Notes:  Pyrite is the most abundant and widely distributed Sulfide. It is frequently found with many other metal ores. It is common in coal, slate and other metamorphic rocks. Frequently confused with Gold it is popularly known as "fool`s gold". However it is much harder and very brittle.

Description: An unusual specimen formed from overlapping cubic and pseudocubic crystals. These give the mineral a very distinct scaly apperance. There is significant amount of twinning. Another interesting feature is the unusual colour, which has a very pronounced green hue in addition to the expected brassy colour.

Location: Boldut Mine, Cavnic, Romania.
