Mineral Notes: Auricupride occurs in mafic to ultramafic rocks that also contain platinum group elements. It has only been reported from two worldwide locations and the precise composition confirmed from one. The mineral is named after its composition of gold and copper.

Description: A golden metallic grain of Auricupride in Quartz. The position of the mineral is highlighted by the white arrow. It is best seen under magnification but is nevertheless a superb example of an extremely rare mineral species.
