Mineral Notes: Vesigneite is a rare vanadate discovered in the 1950s in Thuringia, Germany. It occurs as a secondary mineral formed in copper-bearing vanadium deposits. It was named after Louis Vésignié (1870-1954) a noted French mineral collector and President of the Mineralogical Society of France.  

Description: Extensive flakes of Vesignieite on a grey matrix. The mineral ranges in colour from pale to dark green. Magnification shows good crystalline form and a waxy luster.

Location: Newcliffe Hill Quarry, Stanton, Leicestershire, England.
