Mineral Notes: Chalcopyrite is the most widespread copper mineral and is an important ore of the metal. The mineral is the end member of a series with iron that also includes Bornite, Covelite, Chalcocite and ending as native copper. 

Description: Very sharp, irridescent crystals of Chalcopyrite scatterd attractively over a matrix of euhedral pink Dolomite crystals. Most of the Chalcopyrite crystals have a very pronounced octahedral form. Some are twinned.

Location: Mid Continent Mine, Treece, Cherokee Co., Kansas, USA.
