Mineral Notes: Rutile is a major ore of titanium, a metal used for advanced alloys because of its light weight, high strength and resistance to corrosion. The mineral is often found as inclsuions in a variety of other minerals inclsuing quartz, tourmaline and corundum.

Description: A superbly rich specimen of Rutile embedded in in Quartz. Not only is the Quartz extremely well-formed, the Rutile is very bright and undamaged. Nearly all the needle-like crystals extend most of the way through the Quartz. A very aesthetic display specimen.

Location: Novo Horizonte, Bahia, Brazil.
