Galena



Galena, PbS (Lead Sulfide), is one of the most abundant and widely distributed sulfides. It is the main ore of lead and frequently contains valuable amounts of Silver and occasionally Zinc.

Description: An almost complete cubic crystal of Galena. Exceptional edges. Interesting terminations where the corners are sheared at 45 degrees. The faces show numerous secondary crystallisations giving a ridged and stepped effect. Good metallic luster.

Location: Tri-State, Joplin, Missouri, USA.
