Fluorite, CaF2 (Calcium Fluoride), is found in a wide range of geologic environments, ranging from inclusions in granite to replacement deposits in limestones. It is one of the most commonly collected minerals because of the beauty of its specimens.
Description: A heavy Hematite matrix containing a sizeable pocket lined with Fluorite. Whilst none of the Fluorite shows the classic cubic habit it is nevertheless highly crystalline forming well defined jointed plates. The colour is two-tone ranging from pale green to blue where the crystal mass is thickest. A most interesting occurrence and specimen.
Location: Florence Mine, Egremont, Cumbria, England.
