Mineral Species: Scholzite
Chemical Formula: CaZn2(PO4)2.2H2O
Chemical Name: Hydrated Calcium Zinc Phosphate
Mineral Class: Phosphate
Mineral Notes: Scholzite is an uncommon Zinc phosphate mineral. It was once thought to occur only in Bavaria, where a thick pegmatite deposit has been infiltrated and metamorphosed by rich phosphate hydrothermal springs. However several other locations have now been discovered, particulalry in Australia and Nevada, USA. It is named after Dr. Adolph Scholz (1894–1950), chemist and mineral collector, Regensburg, Germany.
